When I played it first, it took me 5 hours to complete one heck of the game. The truth is I was searching and reading for honest tips to solve this 2048 game.
Yes, I found many. Still, it was tough. The good thing is when I was comfortable with the important arrow keys and with faster recognition of numbers, I tend to focus more on a smaller number(BASIC) which in turn I won the game.

What is 2048?
2048 is a FREE, tile-based, sliding block puzzle, single-player, and addictive online/offline mobile game that was developed by a 19-year-old Italian Web Developer, Gabriele Cirulli based on 1024 by Veewo Studio and conceptually similar to Threes by Asher Vollmer.
Surprisingly in the first week, it received over 4 million visitors who described by the Wall Street Journal "almost like Candy Crust for Math Geeks" and on Business Insider called it "Three on Steroids."

Although, in the creator at GitHub, he mentioned that his 2048 is a small clone of 1024 that is also based on Saming's 2048 (also a clone).
The primary objective here is to get 2048 value of tile which you need to slide the tile with two similar numbers to combine and create higher value.

2048 Gameplay
What it makes more interesting is that it's pretty simple 4 x 4 grid of tiles. The color of tiles is different concerning the value of the tiles.
The game only uses ARROW keys(up, right, down, left) which are more convenient to play with. If two tiles with the same number collide when moving/sliding, it will combine and make a power of two until it reaches 2048 value.
Note: A value of 2 or sometimes 4 appears randomly in a different location.
Sample two tiles:
- 2 +2 = 4
- 4 +4 = 8
- 8+8 = 16
- 16+16 = 32
- and so on until 2048.
If you reach 2048, you will be asked if you will continue or restart it beyond 2048.

The upper portion displays the user's score. It started at Zero and incremented when two tiles combine to form a new higher value tile. The best score is shown alongside with the current rating.

Every tile is a power of 2. In the worst case scenario of only 2s appearing on the board, a player would need to make2048 downloadmatches to get to a tile with label

When I downloaded and installed it's 2048 portable (which can be played in the Desktop), I have seen AI explains the game. It's kinda pretty amusing, yet it has a complicated set of patterns. Though I only have seen it once, I noticed that its deal with tons of rules to achieve 2048.
But my instincts tell me, that maybe it's entirely scripted to run as intended as that.
Also, one of the blogs I read, it gives a particular set of rules:
- to keep the highest tile in the corner and do not move it.
But with the portable AI, it's kinda conflicting at first.

You will notice that on the left below the corner, it's the highest value to lower value. Above it, the row is a reverse, lower value to higher value.
Although, the author of that blog post admits that if you will use it, there is an 80% chance of winning.
With that, I came up with some tips and techniques:
1. Putting the highest value in the corner(left or right) is quite better.
Although it is necessary, you can experiment with it. The more you played it, the more you will gain a better understanding and thus determine hints and tips.

I choose the left side, so I must put it in that way. Yes, I admit that in some cases, it will be moved necessarily. And it is Okay.
2. Always fill the BOTTOM Row, so that the highest value in the corner will not be moved.

Again, it is not necessary to rule however when the game lasts, it 's hard to recover when you try to slide it in the opposite direction, and the random tile value appears in the corner(highest value position).
3. Be sure that your upper rows are a greater value than the bottom row.
If you choose to solve it in the bottom row, its top rows SHOULD be higher value. See the image below. It is recommended to avoid such an occurrence. Yes, it can still be solved and be merged. But later on, it will difficult to convert tile(2) in higher value since the upper row values keep on merging into higher value.

4. Avoid Pressing Unnecessary Up Arrow Key
Pressing UP arrow key sometimes, your bottom row will be inserted by tile value of which is difficult to merge. The below image is an example, I am sure if it is the case, you will have difficulties later on.

Exception:
- If the left column is occupied by titles, itis good to use UP ARROW key if you really don't have any moves except UP arrow key then use it anyway.
5. One WRONG move will lose you
As the game reaches to later part(says you have a 16k score), focus on moving the tiles or else you will lose.
If you follow these TIPS, you will WIN (based on my experienced). Also, if you want to achieve more score, it theoretically reaches million of a score. WOW!

By the way, with this game, it helps and improves your brain thinking capability. It will see and predict tiles to solve or merge one problem.
Of course, you will get addicted and feels more frustrated if you can't solve it. But patiently, it is more relieving.
