Microsoft Unveils Kinect for Windows v2

Microsoft unveils its Kinect for Windows v2 that will launch on July 15, according to Microsoft Store. This new Kinect for Windows v2 sensor certainly gives its developers to be more precise, responsive, and intuitive capabilities. This includes Interactive voice-and-gesture-based applications.

For the significant part, Microsoft's proprietary Time-of-Flight technology will improve skeletal tracking and new active infrared in this version 2.

The design is quite similar to that Kinect for  Xbox One, it requires power supply and hub to operate.

Developers can pre-order the device for $199 from the Microsoft Store. The v2 sensor is intended for use with the Kinect for Windows software development kit (SDK) 2.0. Learn more at the Kinect for Windows Dev Center at Microsoft website.

Microsoft's Note: The Kinect for Windows v2 sensor does not ship with any software. It is intended for use with the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0 (licensed separately) and will operate only with applications developed for Kinect for Windows v2. Developers can use the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0 to build applications with C++, C#, VB.Net, Cx, or JavaScript.
