Globe joins 1st TechCamp Hackathon in PH on disaster risk reduction

Globe joins the TechCamp Hackathon to create applications and solutions for problems brought about by extreme natural calamities affecting the country.

The activity scheduled on May 9 and 10 at the Globe Valero Telepark in Makati City serves as a follow-up to the successful 1st Philippine TechCamp on Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Building early this week. It will bring together developers, designers, and entrepreneurs, as well as representatives from government, civil society, and non-government organizations.

Individuals or team of developers may pitch their ideas for a maximum of five minutes to a panel of judges. The apps will be judged based on the following criteria: Relevance, 30%; Innovativeness, 25%, Visuals (UI/UX), 15%; Sustainability, 10%; Completeness, 10%; and Presentation, 10%.

The top three winners will receive P30,000 each from the US Embassy to be turned over to any of the non-government organizations or local government units included in the list to be provided by WFP. The best application will also receive P3,000 worth of API (Application Programming Interface) credits from Globe Labs that will entitle them to 6,000 outgoing SMS and 40,000 incoming SMS, or 600 minutes of calls. The credits may be used within a six-month period to help them with the development and testing.
