NVIDIA Unveils Tegra K1 with 192 CUDA Cores Super Chip

CEO of NVIDIA, Jen-Hsun Huang, revealed its new Tegra K1 Mobile processor with freaking 192 CUDA cores that will bring PC-like gaming experience on mobile computing ( Particularly with Smartphones and Tablets).

At the height of the company's press event at CES 2014 (Consumer Electronics Show), Las Vegas, on Sunday, Nvidia announced its next generation mobile processor that will replace Tegra 4 with Tegra K1 "SUPER SHIP" which features 192 cores super ship. This processor will increase and boost better visual performance than of PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360.

NVIDIA Tegra K1 is the first 192 cores super processor chip and based on DX 11 (Direct X version) GPU features. It also packed with 365 GPU horsepower, 5600 CPU horsepower, and only 5W on Power.

It has two versions:

  • 4-plus-1 ARM Cortex A15 Quadcore CPU 32 bit quad core
  • Denver CPU (based on ARM v8 64 bit) High performance single and double threaded.
NVIDIA Tegra K1 comes from a dual-core custom version of Denver CPU. Luckily, it boasts to run Epic Game's Unreal Engine 4 (most advanced gaming system).

As the press event continues, CEO showed Tegra K1 run on Android OS. It is the world's first demo of 64bit V8 on Android. Not only be found in Android but also be found on 4K TV, Consoles, and Cars.
Tegra previous generations

NVIDIA Tegra K1 jumps and replaces Tegra 4 not on Tegra 5 because they said it is not linear instead it's called K1 because it is based on Kepler architecture

Kepler architecture said to be the successful GPU architecture. Its power saving and programmable!

Its 32-bit version will be expected to available in the first half of 2014, while its 64bit version is expected in the second semester of 2014.
