[PH] Is August 09, 2013 A Regular Holiday Or Not?

The reason you were landed here because you were looking for the answer. Is it really a holiday on August 09, 2013? This is quite difficult to answer at least for now simply because the reason is the government still does not declare such. I know you are pretty excited for the mere fact that August 09 should be a holiday right? At least for unofficial statement coming from other external sources.

Update: August 01, 2013

  • Reserve date August 09, 2013 to celebrate and unwind for it is now declared as HOLIDAY.
Under proclamation no. 629 s2013, which stated that 9 August 2013, Friday, will be a national Regular Holiday in the observance of Eid'l Fitr or Feast of Ramadhan.

HOWEVER, not all companies observe holiday, in case, you want to know the pay rules when working on holidays, see below.

External Sources Declare August 09 2013 as Regular Holiday

With some external sources like portalseven and https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/philippines/, they already posted and declared August 09 2013, Friday as a regular holiday in celebration of Eidul-Fitar(Muslim Celebration).

Eid-al-Fitr (Eid al-Fitr, Eid ul-Fitr, Id-Ul-Fitr, Eid) is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. It marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer. Many Muslims attend communal prayers, listen to a khutba(sermon) and give zakat al-fitr (charity in the form of food) during Eid al-Fitr. Source: Eid-al Fitr
Become a Regular Holiday If NCMF Declared it

However, this observance(also Eidul Adha to be declared under  RA No. 9849) to be declared as national holiday shall be announced with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) under Section 2 of this proclamation 549 s2012. As of this date, NCMF still does not declares August 09 2013 to be a regular holiday. If however NCMF decides to declare, it will inform the Office of the President  and it is expected to post an update in the Philippine Government( http://www.gov.ph )and DOLE (http://dole.gov.ph/).

So the question whether August 09 2013 is holiday or not, it still  undetermined.

For the updates, you can regularly check this post. Thank you! :)
