Gmail Roll Out Inbox Tabs & Categorized Labels

Gmail just recently roll out its new feature: Inbox Tabs and Categorized Labels. Well, at first, I had a minor difficulty in browsing my inbox. Oh yes, I didn't know what tabs a certain website is. But later, I feel more comfortable.

The messages are now classified into categories. These categories such as but not limited to Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates and Forums. What are the benefits of these new features?

In addition, these categories could be opt to choose as inbox tabs or categorized labels. The good thing here is that it merely focus on inbox messages that are really important with the same type all at once.


The Inbox messages are automatically categorized with the tabs:
  • Primary - messages came from friends and family or I found out too that messages are directly sent to your.
  • Promotions - concern with messages with deals, offers, and other promotional emails.
  • Social - these are message came from social networking sites, media-sharing sites, online dating sites, gaming sites, and other social sites.
  • Updates -  these are notifications such as confirmations, receipts, bills, and statements.
  • Forum  -came from online groups, discussion boards, and mailing lists.
Enable tabs: Show or hide tabs
1. In your gmail
2. Click the + icon to the right of your tabs.
3. Check or uncheck checkboxes to show or hide each tab.
4. then click Save.

Note:

If you want to old one, you could simply hide all tabs. Also, primary cannot be unchecked. However, at one point, you realized to use the feature, you could set it anyway.

Just go to the settings -> configure inbox
