HOW TO:Speed Up Youtube Buffering Speed

HOW TO: Speed Up Youtube Buffering Speed
Trick to boost video streaming speed
Are you tired of waiting just to watch your favorite clips on youtube? Depending on the quality of that individual video you are about to watch - the more High Quality it has, then it is slower because it buffs a lot than those low-quality vids.It also depends on your ISP(Internet Service Provider) which gives you the bandwidth based on your subscription type. So now we will do some little trick here to boost the buffering speed in Youtube(also works on other video streaming sites).

Steps to Speed Up
The system.ini will be modified here.

For XP users - see more below for Windows7
1. Open My Computer and Locate C drive
2. Locate C:\windows (system.ini located here)
3. Look for the file system.ini
4. Open it with your text editor - notepad will do
5. If you open the system.ini, you will see something like this:
; [drivers]
wave=mmdrv.dll
timer=timer.drv
[mci]
[driver32]
[386enh]
woafont=dosapp.FON
EGA80WOA.FON=EGA80WOA.FON
EGA40WOA.FON=EGA40WOA.FON
CGA80WOA.FON=CGA80WOA.FON
CGA40WOA.FON=CGA40WOA.FON

6. Now add this trick values and append it to CGA40WOA.FON=CGA40WOA.FON included in [386eh]

page buffer=1000000Tbps
load=1000000Tbps
download=1000000Tbps
save=1000000Tbps
back=1000000Tbps
search=1000000Tbps
sound=1000000Tbps
webcam=1000000Tbps
voice=1000000Tbps
faxmodemfast=1000000Tbps
update=1000000Tbps

7. So now the final output will be
; [drivers]
wave=mmdrv.dll
timer=timer.drv
[mci]
[driver32]
[386enh]
woafont=dosapp.FON
EGA80WOA.FON=EGA80WOA.FON
EGA40WOA.FON=EGA40WOA.FON
CGA80WOA.FON=CGA80WOA.FON
CGA40WOA.FON=CGA40WOA.FON
page buffer=1000000Tbps
load=1000000Tbps
download=1000000Tbps
save=1000000Tbps
back=1000000Tbps
search=1000000Tbps
sound=1000000Tbps
webcam=1000000Tbps
voice=1000000Tbps
faxmodemfast=1000000Tbps
update=1000000Tbps
8. save system.ini and restart your PC/Netbook/Laptop! Experience fast streaming! :))

For Windows7 - the process is all the same, but it differs in the content of the system.ini file
1. Click start then type system.ini in the address input box
2. Then you will see the file system.ini, click it and it will open in a notepad
3. You will see like this:

4. add these values
page buffer=1000000Tbps
load=1000000Tbps
download=1000000Tbps
save=1000000Tbps
back=1000000Tbps
search=1000000Tbps
sound=1000000Tbps
webcam=1000000Tbps
voice=1000000Tbps
faxmodemfast=1000000Tbps
update=1000000Tbps
5. the final output will be:
6. Save the file system.ini and reboot your system!
7. Good Job! :))

Take note: I just share it with you, and it is your responsible if something bad happen.. But I assure you it works fine. Even in other forum/blog, it is working! :)

Important:

if it is Access Denied, try these steps:

  • Copy this and paste it in the notepad
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas]
@="Take Ownership"
"NoWorkingDirectory"=""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command]
@="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F"
"IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]
@="Take Ownership"
"NoWorkingDirectory"=""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]
@="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
"IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"

  Choose as any filename i,e.in my case I named it: ownership.reg, and be sure you set it the save type to All files *.*, be sure it is .reg extension since it is registry file.

See screenshot below:

  • Now, right-click the .reg file that you save awhile ago (ownership.reg) and click Merge

  • Click "yes" if prompted
  • Now, go to C:\windows folder and look for the system.ini and right click the file, then choose Take Ownership

  • Put this value and save it. You will notice it doesn't display Access Denied
page buffer=1000000Tbps
load=1000000Tbps
download=1000000Tbps
save=1000000Tbps
back=1000000Tbps
search=1000000Tbps
sound=1000000Tbps
webcam=1000000Tbps
voice=1000000Tbps
faxmodemfast=1000000Tbps
update=1000000Tbps

  • Restart your system and enjoy!
BONUS!!

these steps to increase your Internet Speed by 20%:

Faster ISP in the Philippines?
    Based on my experienced(especially here in the Philippines), the fastest in streaming category will be PLDT ISP. Locations also consider as one of the factors for faster browsing and streaming. I guess PLDT is still TIER 1 - which means all data packets sent by other ISP will be received by  PLDT and send it to other website servers outside the country, so it means it is faster than other TIER 2 ISP. But just in case, correct me if I'm wrong :))
